Our staff consists of 80
employees, including full-time clergy, educators and administrative staff, and a dedicated body of lay leaders and volunteers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO At a time of exciting growth, Temple Beth Shalom seeks a Program Manager to develop and implement engaging programming, create thoughtful and cohesive strategy for community events management, and build connections and relationships with lay leaders, members, clergy and staff.
This position is responsible for supporting Temple committees, lay leaders and volunteers with planning, coordinating, and executing meaningful programs throughout the year, as well as working collaboratively across the organization to manage seamless logistics, creative ideas, and community-minded events.
Specifically, the Program Manager will:
Develop, create, support, and execute thoughtful and engaging programs including holiday events, Friday evening experiences, committee-sponsored programs, and community-wide activities.
Build relationships with and serve as programmatic liaison for lay leaders, committees, and volunteers, fostering collaboration and connection.
Brainstorm and strategize the programmatic plans for the coming year to meet a multitude of organization-wide goals and engage with a wide variety of cohorts and members.
Work closely with key stakeholders across the congregation to facilitate and guide the development of cultural, social, spiritual, and educational programs and events which build and strengthen community.
Actively participate in and contribute to the success of cross-departmental meetings including the TBS Program Team, and work closely with colleagues to coordinate program development from start to finish including ideating, calendaring, logistics, marketing and communications, registration, and the big picture view.
Generate and implement organized, successful, community and goal-minded programs.
Manage event and program budgets, logistics, and staffing.
Support community, holiday and fundraising events as needed, including High Holy Days.
Assess, evaluate, modify and improve programs using research, data, experience, and feedback.
Additional responsibilities, as appropriately assigned.

WORK LOCATION AND HOURS This position works onsite at Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, MA.
This is a 30 hour per week position consisting of typical weekdays, Friday evenings about twice per month, and weekend and holiday responsibilities when running programming.
The temple is conveniently accessible from Route 95/128 and the MBTA commuter rail.
SALARY AND BENEFITS The salary range for this position at 30 hours per week is $35,000-$45,000, along with a benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, flexible spending account, medical supplement plan, and generous paid time off.
For those interested, employees receive a free membership to the synagogue.
Employees with Pre-K and school-aged children receive a discount off of tuition for our TBS learning programs.
