Job Title: Data Center Engineer
Duties: The DC engineer's position must have an understanding of how all data center systems function and operate. They must be capable of performing corrective measures. This includes responding to Scada and IT equipment alarms. They will be responsible for the supervising any service contract providers that support the Infrastructure and Technology Systems.
o Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of Data Center Critical Infrastructure Systems and equipment in order to be able to immediately recognize system issues and respond to operational and emergency situations.
o Ensure adherence to all appropriate standard operating procedures, method of procedures, and emergency response procedures established for the mission critical environments and systems.
o Adhere to the standards and procedures as set forth in the Data Center Procedures Manual, the Data Center Access Control Policies, and the Corporate Services Emergency Response Reporting Guideline.
o Conduct routine and ongoing assessment of the infrastructure systems operations. Perform tests, rounds, and analyze data to assure the proper functioning of all equipment.
Skills: o Ensure there is appropriate 24/7 emergency coverage for IT and infrastructure failures. o Ensure that all Service Manager 9 tickets are responded to within agreed upon internal service level agreementso Racking and stacking of servers.o Run network connections and fiber as required supporting data center operations.o Remote technical support for UNIX, Windows and Network Team.o Creation and completion of change management tickets.o Performing tape rotations and custody transfers.o Implementing Data Destruction procedureso Performing inventory management.o Creating and maintaining as-built drawings and elevations.o Maintaining access control logs and rights.o Clean up and coordination of cleaning services.o Shipping and receiving of all Data Center equipment.o Availability to work shift work including evenings and weekends
Keywords:
Education: Skills & Qualifications o Bachelor's degree in Data Center Operations or equivalent related life experience preferred. o Five years of IT or data center operations, or related experience. o Knowledge of mission critical cooling systems, power systems, and fire suppression systems. o Knowledge of networking and data communications fundamentals.o Project management skills. o Position will be required to respond to infrastructure emergencies on a 24/7/365 basis. o Working familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook Auto Cad and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software.o Candidate must be available for weekend work and 24/7 on-call for escalated problems # of Positions: 2Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
