ADMINISTRATOR JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible to owners and licensee; and shall operate the facility to ensure that services required by residents at each level of care are available on a regular basis and provided in an appropriate environment in accordance with state and federal rules, regulations and statutes, corporate by laws, policies, procedures and standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
The Administrator shall be responsible for assisting in the development of Patient Care Policies with the advice of professional advisors or consultants, the director and/or supervisor of nursing services and representatives from other disciplines as may be appropriate.
Responsible for procuring competent staff and is jointly and severally responsible with the licensee for the direction of such staff and for establishing and maintaining current written staff policies and staff practices and procedures that encourage good resident care.
The Administrator shall see that:
A sufficient number of trained, experienced and competent staff is available to provide adequate and appropriate care and supervision for all residents to ensure that their personal care needs are met.
Accurate staff records, including time records and health records are kept on all staff.
Written job descriptions are maintained for all positions, including qualifications, duties and responsibilities.
An organized orientation program is in place for all new employees to explain job responsibilities, duties and employment policies.
All appropriate licenses and certifications are available for those personnel so requiring them.
The health program for employees ensures that employees do not work with serious/contagious illness or with injuries that could cause harm to the residents, other employees or further harm to that employee.
All employees perform their tasks in a manner consistent with sound safety practices.
The Administrator shall additionally ensure that employees do not expose themselves or others to undue risks or otherwise act in a manner which can create a hazardous situation.
Also ensures that all supervisors are responsible for employees behaving and working in a safe and responsible manner.
Oversees the Safety Committee and the employees on that committee to see that appropriate reporting and investigation of incidents occurs with necessary follow-through.
Brings forward staff concerns in a timely and appropriate manner to the appropriate party.
Guides the department heads in evaluation of staff in compliance with pre-determined criteria and standards set by the corporation.
Provides evaluation of department heads including the 30-60-90 day evaluation for new department heads.
Assures that department heads understand and carry out the management philosophy of the facility; and that this philosophy is reflected in all aspects of employee relations, including hiring, firing disciplinary actions, promotions, etc.
Meets with employees and their respective department heads in an employee grievance procedure and attempts to bring about fair and equitable resolution.
Guides department heads in appropriate protocol when dealing with regulatory agencies and employees such as the Unemployment Office, MCAD, EEOC and other such agencies as well as private attorneys retained for such employment issues by present or past employees.
Shall be responsible for ensuring that all required records, reports and other materials necessary for good business practice or to meet state or federal regulations are complete, accurate, current and available within the facility.
Assures that all departments in the facility meet local, state, county and federal requirements.
Maintains open lines of communication with all employees, departments, residents, volunteers, families and visitors.
Helps the facility and its management staff to set long and short term goals.
Guides team through all states of strategic planning, business planning, and implementation to achieve vision and goals.
Assures that there is a responsible person designated to act in the absence of the Administrator.
Prepares a facility budget with input form department heads and supervisors; sees that each department receives adequate information regarding the budgetary process in order to make informed planning decisions regarding its fiscal operation.
Is responsible to the owners and licensee for the successful implementation of the budget as submitted and will provide accountability to the organization for the success of the budget.
Works with personnel from Wingate Healthcare, the auditors and third party representatives regarding the fiscal management of the facility as it relates to expenditures, costs, rates or any other such information regarding the budget.
Assures that the bidding process at the departmental level is carried out on a routine basis; and that such process is objective and fair, providing for the best product for the best price.
Works with the Business Office to oversee the fiscal operation of the facility, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Medicare and Medicaid billing, Payroll and all other financial reporting.
Assures that the rights of the residents are respected and maintained.
Assures that the physical environment is sanitary and in good physical repair.
Provides a pleasant environment for residents and their families and encourages a home-like atmoshere through the staff and personnel.
Sees that the grounds are maintained in a safe and attractive manner.
Maintains current licensure through continued educational requirements.
Keeps professionally current in the geriatric and administrative fields through attendance at meetings, conferences, conventions and workshops.
Keeps a visible community profile.
Promotes the facility's involvement in the community through outreach and maintains good community relations.
Follow through on requests for special projects or reports from the home office and completes assignments in a timely fashion.
Demonstrates an understanding of the facilty's overall goals and objectives by being creative and innovative in assisting the facility in reaching those goals.
Applies 5 Star customer service approach in all aspects of job.

Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree with a current license in the state the facility is located.
Minimum of five years experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
SUPERIVISON OF OTHERS:
Responsible person charged with general administration of the building.
